Altar/Shelves: On a personal level, many people arrange their shelves to be altars to their individual beliefs and likes. The objects are decorative, comforting, and hold sentimental value to the owner. These shelves reflect varying themes of hegemony, recreated mythology, Pan-Asianess, medicinal plants, packaging, and toys. The tchotkes on this shelf include a stigmatic panda toy and a generalized stylized Asian head made from beeswax with juju berry, star anise, and anise seed placed within the wax.
