Ourbourous Sea Dragon 2008

This painting is comprised of a sea serpent, also know as a water dragon. Here it is represented as an ourbourous, a mythological and metaphorical shape that represents rebirth and eternity, related to the symbolism of a phoenix. The dragon rises out of the crashing wave and sea foam, covered with the spirals of DNA, looking through the blue ocean. The painting is created in an illustrative Asian style in homage to Japanese nautical art and Chinese mythology.
