Mermaid protection Quit frack by beatrixxx Mermaid protection Quit frack by beatrixxx
This is a for an installation of a glittering sexy merrmaid swimming through the water protesting: "Quit fracking!", defying a gas drilling and ground fracking. Mixed media sculpture set on a motorized shadowbox. Yemaja is a goddess represented as a mermaid, she protects people and dwells in the ocean, her sister Oshun is a goddess that dwells in rivers. If anyone wants to help create a petition for people to raise awareness, be participatory, and protect their own water supply that would be great! [link]

Does anyone want to work on an anti-fracking agi-prop street art/puppetry/installation project? I need help with the script. Costumes can be sea creatures/mermaids, things that live in/protect the water. If the gas company is allowed to frack ground to harvest gas, they'll pump in benzene + other toxic chemicals, groundwater will be contaminated w/ carcinogens. All of NY state will get cancer. It already happened in Penn. Maybe we can do this as an art installation and performance piece? There's several ideas I'm working on. I'll make a motorized whirligig sculpture, everyone can do their own costumes. I thought it would be easy to recycle mermaid parade costumes and stuff. Good enough. If the media asks, tell them we're here to protect the water so DONT FRACK WITH US! fun, right?
