Frog mutation 2009

This painting is comprised of two colorful frogs with mutations resulting from nitrates in the environment. One frog has an extra limb, both have an extra eye, the chemical structure for the nitrate ion hovers in the sky. Frogs absorb water through their skin directly from their environment, that is why they are sensitive to contaminants; in this painting the frogs share the colors of their background as they are so much part of their ecosystem. This painting reminds the art viewer of the key states of animal spirits to inhabit. 4 feet by 3 feet.
